Whitney in Foy, 13 Junuary 1945

Jack Whitney (7 July 1924-?) was a US Army private who served in the 506th PIR, 101st Airborne Division during World War II under the command of Steve Foley.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Born on 7 July 1924 in Utah, USA. In 1943, he volunteered for the 101st Airborne Division. At Camp Toccoa met Scott Riley, Michael Ender and Steve Anderson.

Battle of the Bulge[]

January 13, 1945 Whitney first appears in Moody's squad during the fighting for the crossroads near Foy. He, as part of a detachment of six people, destroys several firing points, clears the farm and, together with Private Anderson, destroys anti-tank guns. After taking the crossroads, he informs Sergeant Modi about the approaching enemy convoy and then participates in its destruction. The next day, the attack on the city of Foi begins. Whitney participates in the taking of the city. Further, he participates in the liberation of the city of Noville.
