
Jack Prendergast was a Sergeant in the Irish Army. Prendergast served as Commandant Pat Quinlan's right-hand man when their company was deployed to ONUC during the Congo Crisis, and Prendergast assisted Quinlan with coordinating the defense of the UN compound during the Siege of Jadotville in 1961. Prendergast and Quinlan shared a Katangese prison cell for one month, and they were allowed to return home afterwards.
