
Jabez Gridley Sutherland (6 October 1825-20 November 1902) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MI 6) from 4 March 1871 to 3 March 1873, succeeding Randolph Strickland and preceding Josiah W. Begole.
Biography[]
Jabez Gridley Sutherland was born in Van Buren, Onondaga County, New York in 1825, and he became a lawyer in 1848. He moved to Saginaw, Michigan, serving as prosecuting attorney in Saginaw County from 1848 to 1849, in the State House in 1853, as a circuit court judge from 1863 to 1871, and in the US House of Representatives from 1871 to 1873. He settled in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1873 and then Berkeley, California in 1897, and he died in 1902.
