Biography[]
Ivan Ivanovich Bytchkov was born in the Russian SFSR of the Soviet Union on November 5, 1966, to a Bulgarian father and a Russian mother, moving to the United States during the early 1990s. Bytchkov settled in the Eastern European neighborhood of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn in New York City, and he became involved with the Faustin crime family. He was arrested in 2000 for embezzlement and in 2004 for burglary, doing these jobs for his friend Vlad Glebov. In 2008, the paranoid Mikhail Faustin was offended by Bytchkov, and he decided to order Glebov to put a hit out on Bytchkov. Glebov told his associate Niko Bellic that Bytchkov had stolen money from his cousin Roman Bellic, and he told him to chase him down and kill him. Bellic chased Bytchkov from his cousin's cab depot to a construction site, and Bytchkov nearly fell off of a ledge. Bellic decided to help him up and spare him after Bytchkov said that Glebov had lied about him, as Bellic knew that Glebov was a cruel person. He let Bytchkov go with a warning: he told him to leave Brighton Beach for good, and Bytchkov moved to New Jersey, disappearing.
Life in New Jersey[]

Bytchkov meeting Niko Bellic again
Bytchkov would marry a local American woman in Kearny, New Jersey, where he became a freelance loan shark. He gave a large loan to M.O.B. gangster Dajonte Muhammad, but Muhammad refused to pay it back. Bytchkov ran into Niko Bellic on the street on one occasion, and Bellic decided to help him out with his problem. The two drove over to the alleyway, where they confronted Muhammad and Kelford McDowell. Muhammad claimed that he believed the loan to be a gift, and he warned Bytchkov and Bellic to leave before he took things personal; Liddell Duncan and Kejuan Daniels took up sniping positions on the neighboring rooftops. Bellic killed all of the gangsters as they tried to assassinate Bytchkov, and Bytchkov gave him a gift of money to reward him for saving his life.
