Italo Niccoli was a cardinal loyal to Pope Alexander VI and the House of Borgia, and was in on the plan to assassinate scientist Niccolo Copernico due to his revolutionary ideas about space. Niccoli informed the Master of the Sacred Palace Annio da Viterbo that five executioners were ready to try and kill Copernico.
