Italians are a nation and ethnic group native to Italy, sharing a common culture, ancestry, and the Italian language. There are 135,000,000 Italians across the world, with 60,000,000 being Italian citizens and 75,000,000 being of Italian ancestry. Most Italians are Catholic, and the top three foreign countries in terms of highest Italian population are Brazil (23,047,494 people), Argentina (20,500,000 people), and the United States (17,250,211 people). There have also been historic Italian communities in the Istria region of Croatia, Slovenia, and the Savoy region of southern France, although many of these people were assimilated in their new countries, or migrated back to Italy.
