Italia Viva (IV) is a social liberal political party in Italy which was founded on 18 September 2019 by Matteo Renzi. Renzi, who had formerly led the centrist faction of the Democratic Party of Italy, led an exodus of 24 deputies and 12 senators in September 2019 in response to the leftist Nicola Zingaretti's rise to the party leadership, and the new "Italia Viva" party was joined by defectors from the Italian Socialist Party, M5S, and Forza Italia.
