Itacua

Itacua is a province of central Bolivia, bordered by San Mateo Province and the Parco Nacional de Agua Verde to the north, Ocoro to the east, La Cruz Province and Pucara to the south, and Barvechos to the west. Itacua was a fertile province with a temperate climate and a moderate relief, and the Rio Uruqui bordered it to the east. The province thrived from the raising of cereals and cattle, and the capital of Khochi was dedicated to the cultivation of cereals, as was the town of Buena Vida; Pantoja was dedicated to breeding. During the Bolivian Drug War of the 2010s, peaceful Itacua formed the heartland of the Kataris 26 revolutionary movement, as cocaleros and other people persecuted by the Santa Blanca Cartel rallied behind Pac Katari. The rebels, with the help of the American "Ghost Recon" special forces team, fought off Gloria Fernandez and Zapatero Gonzalez's attempt to take control of the province for the cartel in 2019.
