Isham Warren Garrott (1816-17 June 1863) was a colonel of the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War.
Biography[]
Isham Warren Garrott was born in Anson County, North Carolina in 1816, and he became a lawyer in Marion, Alabama in 1840. Garrott was a member of the US Whig Party and the Freemasons, and he became President of the Board of Trustees of Howard College. In 1845 and 1847, he was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, and he was an elector for John C. Breckinridge's 1860 presidential campaign. He formed the 20th Alabama Infantry Regiment of the Confederate States Army at the start of the American Civil War in 1861, and he served in Edward D. Tracy's brigade in Alabama. Garrott fought at Port Gibson and Champion Hill before being killed by a Union sharpshooter during the Siege of Vicksburg.
