
Isabella of Aragon, Queen of France (1248-28 January 1271) was the queen consort of France from 25 August 1270 to 28 January 1271 with King Philip III of France; she was the daughter of James I of Aragon and Violant of Hungary.
Biography[]
Isabella of Aragon was born in 1248, the daughter of King James I of Aragon and Violant of Hungary. On 28 May 1262, she married King Philip III of France, and their children were Philip IV of France and Charles of Valois, two major nobles of the House of Valois. She fell from her horse on 11 January 1271 in Calabria while on her way home from accompanying her husband on the Eighth Crusade to Tunis, leading to her giving birth to a stillborn son and dying of her injures on 28 January. Her tomb was desecrated during the French Revolution in 1793.
