Isaac Hill (6 April 1789 – 22 March 1851) was a US Senator from New Hampshire (D) from 4 March 1831 to 30 May 1836, succeeding Levi Woodbury and preceding John Page, and Governor from 2 June 1836 to 5 June 1839 (succeeding William Badger and preceding John Page).
Biography[]
Isaac Hill was born in Belmont, Massachusetts in 1789, and he moved to Concord, New Hampshire in 1809 to become owner and editor of the New Hampshire Patriot. He served as clerk of the New Hampshire State Senate from 1819 to 1825, and he went on to serve in the US Senate from 1831 to 1836, when he resigned to serve as Governor. He returned to his businesses after leaving the governorship, and he died in 1851.
