IPLO members

The Irish People's Liberation Organization (IPLO) was an Irish republican and socialist paramilitary group that existed from 1986 to May 1992 during The Troubles. Founded by Gerard Steenson and Jimmy Brown, the IPLO split from the Irish National Liberation Army, which it saw as corrupt and an obstacle to socialism and Irish unification. Unlike the Provisional Irish Republican Army, the IPLO was responsible for more internecine republican/nationalist violence than paramilitary attacks on supporters of Ulster unionism, although it did carry out two attacks on Protestant pubs and assassinated Belfast City Councillor George Seawright in 1987. The Provisional IRA forced the IPLO to dissolve in 1992.
