Iohannes of Makuria (790-850) was the king of Makuria from 813 to 850, succeeding Khael of Makuria and preceding Zakharias II of Makuria.
Biography[]
Iohannes was born in 790 to the Miaphysite Christian Nubian House of Azim, and he was the son of King Khael of Makuria. Iohannes succeeded his father as king of Makuria upon his death in 813, when Iohannes was 23. He reigned for 37 years, and his son Zakharias II of Makuria succeeded him on his death.
