The Inwood salvage yard bombing occurred in 4 June 2008 when a car bomb exploded at a meeting of Ancelotti crime family mobsters at a salvage yard off Grummer Road in Inwood, Manhattan, New York City, killing several criminals. The car bomb was planted underneath the vehicle of Ancelotti capo Anthony Spoleto, who was killed in the initial explosion; the survivors were then gunned down by the assailant after a short shootout. The Ancelottis were quick to blame the Albanian Mob, as Spoleto had just left a meeting with them in Lower Manhattan. However, the real perpetrators were the Irish Mob, who had been hired by the Pegorino crime family to weaken their Ancelotti rivals; Niko Bellic was the bomber and gunman, having been paid by Gerald McReary to perform the task.
