Inner Mongolia is one of the autonomous regions of China, with Hohhot serving as its capital. The region's border includes most of the length of China's border with Mongolia, and a small section of China's border with Russia. The autonomous region was established in 1947, and it took up 12% of China's land area. Hohhot, Baotou, Chifeng, and Ordos were Inner Mongolia's major cities, and the region had a population of 25,050,000 in 2014.
