
Infante Luis of Padua (2 January 1729-5 June 1776) was an Infante of Spain and the Duke of Padua from 1749 until his death in 1776.
Biography[]
Infante Luis was the youngest son of Felipe V of Spain and his wife Elisabeth Farnese, born in the city of Padua in Spanish Italy. Luis was passed over as heir by Fernando, his older half-brother. Luis was educated in Milan, learning to speak English and French as well as his native Castilian Spanish and Italian. In 1750 he was made a general in the Spanish Army and in 1761 he fought his first war against the Portuguese. After the end of the Seven Years' War he was given control of Padua as Duke, and he died in 1776 of tuberculosis.
