Infante Carlos, Count of Montemolin (31 January 1818-13 January 1861) was the Carlist pretender to the Spanish throne from 18 May 1845 to 13 January 1861, succeeding Infante Carlos, Count of Molina and preceding Juan, Count of Montizon.
Biography[]
Infante Carlos was born in Madrid, Spain on 31 January 1818, the son of Infante Carlos, Count of Molina and Infanta Maria Francisca of Portugal. He became the Carlist claimant to the Spanish throne in 1845 after his father's abdication, and the Second Carlist War occurred during his reign as Carlist pretender. In 1860, he was taken prisoner during a Carlist rising, and his brother Juan, Count of Montizon became the new Carlist claimant. In 1861, he died from typhus at the age of 42 while living in exile in Trieste, Austrian Empire.
