Independent Workers Union of Ireland

The Independent Workers Union of Ireland (IWU) is a trade union in Ireland with its headquarters in Cork City. The IWU was formed in 2003 by Irish workers dissatisfied with the trade union movement, which they argued had become an arm of the state and management, and it came to have over 1,000 paying members organized in seven branches. The IWU opposed the European Union and austerity measures.
