Inazuma

The Inazuma was an Imperial Japanese Navy destroyer that was built by Fujinagata Shipyards in 1930 and commissioned in 1932. The ship assisted in the capture of Hong Kong and the invasion of the Philippines in December 1941 and Indonesia in 1942, and the ship also fought at the Battle of Sunda Strait, in the Aleutians, and the Battle of Guadalcanal. The ship sunk three US Navy destroyers at the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in November 1942, and she was later sent to escort numerous Tokyo Express missions. On 14 May 1944, the Inazuma was torpedoed by an American submarine off the Philippines, with Commander Tokiwa going down with the ship as 125 crew members escaped.
