
Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl (died 636) was a Quraysh tribal leader who fought against Muhammad at the Battle of the Trench in 627 before converting to Islam.
Biography[]
Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl was a chief of the Banu Makhzum Quraysh tribe of the Arabian Peninsula, and he was one of the pagan chiefs that allied with Abu Sufyan against Muhammad in 625, fighting at the Battle of Uhud. He also contributed soldiers to the Battle of the Trench, which was a fiasco for the pagans. His wife Umm Hakim ultimately convinced him to embrace Islam, and he was killed at the battle of Yarmouk against the Byzantine Empire in 636.
