Ii Yasutomi

Ii Yasutomi (died 1180) was the daimyo of the Ii clan. He was an ally of the Kajiwara and was aligned with the Fujiwara, which was why the Minamoto invaded his lands and defeated him.

Biography[]

Yasutomi was born in Iwata in Totomi Province to the Ii samurai clan, which was loyal to the Fujiwara. Yasutomi was an ally of the Kajiwara, fellow Fujiwara servants, and he was thus a possible enemy to both the Taira and Matsudaira. In 1177 he was invaded by Minamoto Noriyori, and although Yasutomi annihilated Noriyori's army, he was brought to battle again by Hemi Mitsunao, who defeated him. Yasutomi was killed in battle, and was succeeded by Ii Sanemasa, his son.
