
Ignazio Florio Sr. (16 December 1838-17 May 1891) was an Italian Historical Right senator.
Biography[]
Born in Palermo, Two Sicilies in 1838, Ignazio Florio Sr. was the son of the entrepreneur Vincenzo Florio Sr.. He developed his father's business empire and purchased the island of Favignana and te Aegadian Islands in 1874, expanding his family's tuna business. He later purchased a shipping line and founded the Navigazione Generale Italiana company in 1881. He was appointed a senator in 1883 and died in 1891, leaving his sons Ignazio Florio Jr. and Vincenzo Florio with a fortune.
