Ignacio "La Plaga" Perez Cervantes (died 2019) was the leading sicario of the Mexican Santa Blanca Cartel. He was killed by American special forces during Operation Kingslayer.
Biography[]
Ignacio Perez Cervantes was the half-brother of Francisco Ricardo Munguia, better known as "El Muro", who became head of security for Santa Blanca Cartel boss Rodrigo Carlos Pérez Morales, known as "El Sueño". Under his older brother's tutelage, Perez received training in assassination and interrogation from Latin American death squads and the Russian Bodark spetsnaz unit. Perez became his cartel's leading sicario, and his penchant for showing off his narco-glamour made him a social media celebrity nicknamed "La Plaga" ("the Plague").
When the United States sent its elite Ghost Recon team to hunt down the Santa Blanca leadership in Bolivia in 2019, El Sueño forced Perez to stop showing off his riches on social media and instead share videos of his brutal executions. After Perez later released a video threatening the son of a cartel lookout, an annoyed El Sueño ordered El Muro to prove his loyalty by killing his younger half-brother. Instead, Muro made plans to flee the country with Plaga. Before they could do so, the American Ghosts raided Perez's house in La Cruz Province and attacked the heavily guarded secret tunnel where he holed up, shooting him dead as he attempted to escape on a motorcycle.
