O'Shea Jackson (born 15 June 1969), known professionally as Ice Cube, is an American rapper, actor, and filmmaker from South Central Los Angeles, California. Born in Baldwin Hills, he formed the rap group C.I.A. in 1986 and, in 1987, formed the massively successful rap group N.W.A., which popularized gangsta rap during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Ice Cube's West Coast rap style included extremely violent lyrics attacking both police and civilians. He joined the Nation of Islam in 1990, adopting its ideology of racist black nationalism and often expressing anti-white and anti-Semitic views in his music. While Ice Cube frequently voted Democratic in elections, he showed openness to working with Republican President Donald Trump and his party in modifying and implementing his "Contract With Black America" in October 2020. Ice Cube denied joining Trump's team, saying that he had simply approached Trump due to the Democratic nominee Joe Biden's team inviting Ice Cube to consult them once they had won the election, while Trump's team showed a willingness to work with Ice Cube immediately.
