Ibrahim Bako

Ibrahim Bako (1941-31 December 1983) was a Brigadier of the Nigerian Army who took part in the coup against Preident Shehu Shagari in 1983, during which he was killed.

Biography[]

Ibrahim Bako was born in 1941, and in 1963 he was commissioned into the Nigerian Army as a Lieutenant. He helped in training the Zimbabwe National Army during the Rhodesian Bush War, and in 1966 he took part in the coup against Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi's government. In 1983, Muhammadu Buhari enlisted his help in his coup against Shehu Shagari's government, but Bako was killed while trying to arrest Shagari.
