Ibraheem S. Samirah (20 August 1991-) was a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates from the 86th district from 20 February 2019, succeeding Jennifer Boysko.
Biography[]
Ibraheem Samirah was born in Chicago, Illinois on 20 August 1991 to Jordanian-Palestinian parents of partial Afro-Arab ancestry. His family was forced to return to Jordan in 2003 after his father was falsely deemed a security risk by Attorney General John Ashcroft and refused re-entry to the United States, but he graduated from American University in 2013 and went to dental school, where he became involved with Black Lives Matter and pro-Palestinian groups. On 19 February 2019, Samirah - a resident of Herndon, Virginia - was elected to the House of Delegates for the 86th district with 60% of the vote, the second Muslim elected to the General Assembly after Sam Rasoul in 2014. He lost the 2021 Democratic primary to Irene Shin, and he left office in 2022.
