Iapygians

The Iapygians were an Indo-European people who inhabited Apulia in classical antiquity. The Iapygians were descended from the Illyrians, who colonized southern Italy around 550 BC; they later became Hellenized by the Greeks, and their territories evolved from a barbarous land in the 6th century BC to a thoroughly Greek region by 400 BC.
