The IJA 3rd Division was an infantry division of the Imperial Japanese Army that was active from 1888 to 1945. The division initially served as the Nagoya garrison and was responsible for the defense of Chubu. The division fought in the First Sino-Japanese War, the Russo-Japanese War, the Siberian Intervention, the Jinan incident of 1928, and in the Second Sino-Japanese War. The division remained in China throughout World War II, participating in Operation Ichi-Go, and it disbanded at the end of the war.
