Huynh Van Cao

Huynh Van Cao (26 September 1927-26 February 2013) was a Major General of the South Vietnamese Army during the Vietnam War.

Biography[]

Huynh Van Cao was born on 26 September 1927 in French Indochina and he graduated from the military school in Hue in 1950. He graduated in Hanoi in 1952 and in the Command and General Staff College in the United States in 1958, and he became the commander of the ARVN 7th Division during the Vietnam War. He worked together with Lt. Colonel John Paul Vann during the war and fought at the Battle of Ap Bac in 1963, and after the fall of Saigon in 1975 he was taken prisoner by North Vietnam. He was released in 1987 and three years later immigrated to the USA. He became a contributing writer for the Vietnam Magazine in America, and Van Cao died in 2013.
