Huw ap Anwir (834-20 April 868) was a Welsh soldier who served Gwynedd during the 9th century AD. In 868, he deserted his post at Caer Meguaidd after stealing a precious lute from Mayor Donngal, fleeing to the village of Tref Meguaidd West. He was tracked down by the Viking Bjorn Tall-Trunks, who had been searching for the lute-playing guard in the villages around the main town, and, after a short fight, Bjorn slew Huw and retrieved his lute for Donngal.
