Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi (1956-10 September 2004) was a Yemeni MP and the leader of the Houthis, a rebellious Shi'a group that operated in southern Yemen. In the Sa'dah War, Houthi and his followers fought the government but Houthi was killed in 2004.
Biography[]
Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi was a member of Yemen's parliament from 1993 to 1997, and in 2004 he began a Shi'a insurgency against the Yemeni Sunni government alongside his followers, called Houthis, in the "Sa'dah War".
The Yemeni government tracked him down to Marran district in Saada Governorate on 10 September and he was killed alongside 20 of his aides.
