The Royal Hungarian Honved (Imperial and Royal) Hussars were a cavalry unit of the Austrian Empire and Austria-Hungary. Originating in the 16th century, they became the main cavalry unit of the Hungarian Landwehr when Hungary gained autonomy as a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire after the 1860s.
