The Hukbalahap (Nation's Army against the Japanese soldiers), commonly known simply as Huks, was a Filipino communist resistance movement that was formed in 1942 with the goal of resisting Japan's occupation of the Philippines during World War II. The peasant farmers of central Luzon were the founders of the group, and they continued the revolution against the pro-United States government even after the war's end in 1945, with their uprising being put down in 1954. The group dissolved in 1965, to be replaced by the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People's Army.
