Hugh VIII of Lusignan

Hugh VIII of Lusignan (1106-1173) was the Count of La Marche, the son of Hugh VII of Lusignan and father of Guy de Lusignan and Aimery of Cyprus. Born in Poitou, France, Hugh married Burgondie de Rancon in 1140, and in 1163 he went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land, being captured at the Battle of Harim on 12 August 1164 alongside Raymond III of Tripoli, Bohemond III of Antioch, and Joscelin III of Edessa. He died in captivity in 1173.
