Huangshi

Huangshi is a large city located in the Hunan province of central China, located 40 miles southeast of the provincial capital of Wuhan.

History[]

Huangshi was located on the Yangtze River in present-day Hunan province of central China, and it bordered Jiangxi to the south. By 2010, it had a population of 2,429,318 people, with 99% of them being Han Chinese. The city was conquered by the Mongol Empire under Kublai Khan, who used it as a base to capture Wuhan and Xianning. It was augmented to include a castle, a monastery, university, and military buildings, and today it is a large city of 1,769 square miles.
