Huang Wan

Huang Wan (141-192) was a Han minister during the late 2nd century AD. He was a palace attendant before rising to be Governor of Yu Province, Steward, Colonel Director of Retainers, and other high-ranking positions under Dong Zhuo. In 191 AD, Huan Wan commanded an army which marched north from Yangzhou to threaten Cao Cao's base at Chen Commandery, so Cao Cao led his army south to engage the Han army. In the Battle of Chahezhen, Huang Wan's army was dealt a resounding defeat, and Cao Cao wounded Huang Wan as he tried to flee the battlefield. Huang Wan was later sacked by Dong Zhuo for opposing his moving of the capital from Luoyang to Chang'an, and he later aided Wang Yun's plot against Dong Zhuo in 192.
