Hu Zun (?-8 August 256) was an officer of Wei who held the title of General Who Conquers the East. He took part in the Battle of Xiangping in 238 AD, the Battle of Dongxing in 252 AD, and Guanqiu Jian and Wen Qin's rebellion in 255 AD.
Biography[]
Under the command of Sima Yi, he helped to put down Gongsun Yuan's rebellion at Liaodong. As the vanguard of the Wei forces, he defeated Gongsun Yuan's officers Bei Yan and Yang Zuo, and was the first to enter Xiangping. He later heard of Sun Quan's death and, with Guanqiu Jian and Wang Chang, gathered troops to invade Wu. At the Battle of Dongxing he fought against the Wu army and was defeated by Ding Feng.
During the uprising of Guanqiu Jian and Wen Qin in 255 AD, Hu Zun was sent with the Qingzhou Army to bar any retreat for the rebels at Qiaosong. Along with Wang Ji and Deng Ai, their three armies forced Wen Qin to flee to seek service with Wu. While Deng Ai killed Ge Yong, Hu Zun and Wang Ji completely surrounded Guanqiu Jian's army. Guanqiu Jian and a dozen riders fled for Shenxian, where he was warmly received by Governor Song Bai before he was slain while drowning his sorrows in his wine cup. He died on 8 August 256, and his sons Hu Fen and Hu Lie both served under Wei and Jin.
