Howard Morton

Howard Morton (born 1946) was an American veteran who served in the Vietnam War as a US Army medic. His wife died in 1990, causing a depression in his daughter, Suzanne Morton, that was treated with phenelzine sulfate prescribed by her psychiatrist. She eventually developed bronchitis, going to the Urban Medical Center for antibiotics. Dr. Edward Auster, a chronic alcoholic, accidentally prescribed meperidine instead of acetaminophen. This caused a fatal reaction in Suzanne, which led to her death.

Morton filed a complaint against the hospital with the NYPD, reporting to detectives Max Greevey and Mike Logan, stating that he knew something wasn't right due to his prior training as a medic. Auster was eventually arrested and convicted of manslaughter.
