The House of Antenoreo was a patrician family of the Republic of Venice.
History[]
Antenoreo was the surname of Doge Encagilio of Venice, who was Doge from 18 December 770 to 21 June 771 after the assassination of Doge Teodato of Venice. Originally a family that was indifferent to the House of Galbaio, their relations went down when the Galbaio family assassinated Encagilio and their patriarch became Doge Giovanni of Venice. Encagilio's son Patriarch Obelerio of Antenoreo was the Steward of the Republic of Venice under Giovanni for many years, but he eventually became an enemy of his, not inviting him to a large party. When he threw the Doge onto the street due to his lack of invitation, this caused a rift in family relations, and the Doge hoped to assassinate Obelerio, his archenemy.
