
Hordaland was a county in Norway, with Bergen serving as its capital. Hordaland bordered Buskerud, Vestland, Telemark, and Rogaland, and it was named for the ancient Germanic Charudes tribe. Hordaland was a petty kingdom until Harald Fairhair's unification of Norway at the Battle of Hafrsfjord in 872, and it became a Norwegian county. In 2020, Hordaland had a population of 532,100 people.
