
Horatio Chapin Burchard (22 September 1825-14 May 1908) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-IL 3) from 6 December 1869 to 3 March 1873 (succeeding Elihu B. Washburne and preceding Charles B. Farwell) and from IL-5 from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1879 (succeeding Bradford N. Stevens and preceding Robert M.A. Hawk).
Biography[]
Horatio Chapin Burchard was born in Marshall, New York in 1825, and he became a lawyer in Freeport, Illinois in 1854. He served in the State House from 1863 to 1866, in the US House of Representatives from 1869 to 1879, and as Director of the US Mint from 1879 to 1885. He died in Freeport in 1908.
