Hope County is a rural county in Montana. It was most famous as the home of the Project at Eden's Gate cult, led by Joseph Seed, until the local law enforcement cracked down on his cult's activities in 2018. The sheriffs collaborated with the local resistance to fight against the cult, whose influence included control over much of the county's land and even the sheriff's department.
