Honshu is home to the historical Japanese capitals of Kyoto, Nara, Kamakura, and Tokyo, as well as the major cities of Kobe, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nagoya, and Kure, and it has been the center of Japanese culture. In 2005, Honshu had a population of 103,000,000 people.
