Biography[]
Honda Yoshinatsu was the son of Honda Takashige, the lord of Mikawa Province and the daimyo of the Honda clan. When his father died in battle with the Kamakura Minamoto in 1183, he replaced him as the new feudal lord. Wrecked by the loss of their leader, the Honda were forced to become vassals of the Minamoto and abandon their loyalties to the Fujiwara.
However, the Honda clan betrayed the Minamoto during the 1190 Kenkyu War, fighting for the Emperor against the Kamakura Minamoto overlords of Japan. His armies troubled the Ishikawa clan, and Ishikawa Nobuari retaliated by decimating his army and conquering his clan. Yoshinatsu did not survive the destruction of his family.
