Homs Governorate is one of the fourteen provinces of Syria, geographically the largest governorate of Syria (with 15,807 square miles of land, most of it desert). The province's capital is the city of Homs, and the region had a population of 1,803,000 people in 2011, most of the population being Sunni Muslim Arabs.
