Homer Jay Simpson (born 1956) was a power plant safety inspector in Springfield, Oregon. He married Marjorie Bouvier and had three children: Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, and they lived a working-class life. Simpson, the son of World War II veteran Abe Simpson, was an alcoholic and a child abuser, and he was known to be dim-witted. While he previously voted for Republican state and local candidates, he voted for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008.
