Homare Nishitani III was a Korean-Japanese yakuza and the patriarch of the Omi Alliance's Kijin-kai subsidiary. A former member of the Jingweon Mafia, Nishitani was infamously lecherous, extravagant, and violent, and acting chairman Masaru Watase attempted to have him killed in 2019 to prevent him from opposing the "Great Dissolution." However, he allied with fellow dissident Kosei Shishido, who had been sent to kill him, and the two mounted a failed last-minute bid to avert the Omi's dissolution, only for both men to be kidnapped by the Daidoji Faction and forced to work as its agents.
Biography[]
Homare Nishitani III was born in Japan to a family of Zainichi Korean heritage. He began his life in the criminal underworld as a member of the Jingweon Mafia, becoming known for engaging in the Jingweon's trademark brutality. After the Tojo-kai crushed the Jingweon in 2006, he split off and took on a new identity concealing his Korean ancestry.
He joined the Kijin-kai subsidiary of the Omi Alliance, rising to the rank of patriarch and taking on the name of the flamboyant Homare Nishitani as his own. Nishitani had the support of Chairman Masaru Watase for his strength, and the Omi showed no outward objection when he revealed his Jingweon background to them. Idolizing Watase, he had the Kijin-kai handle the Watase-gumi's unsavory tasks, serving as hitmen. Nishitani became reviled for his cruelty, torturing and murdering a yakuza deserter and making an enemy of Yuki Tsuruno in the process. He also sexually, physically, and psychologically abused the prize fighter Kosei Shishido, while regularly tormenting other "weaklings" among Japan's prize-fighting community and denailing his victims, cutting their noses off, making multiple cauterized cuts to their stomachs, and burying them alive in the mountains. During the 2010s, Nishitani gained control of "the Castle", a pleasure district hidden on a foreign cargo ship, and he built it into an offshore adult amusement park where he and VIP customers reveled in sexual taboos, the bloodshed of the coliseum, and the service of slaves, with Nishitani keeping two female and one male attendant by his side.
In 2019, Watase and Tojo-kai chairman Daigo Dojima secretly planned the joint dissolution of their clans due to Governor Ryo Aoki's attempts to transform the yakuza into political pawns. The imprisoned Watase entrusted his captain Tsuruno with eliminating Nishitani, the main obstacle to any dissolution of the Omi. Tsuruno and his subordinate Kosei Shishido lured Daidoji Faction agent Kazuma Kiryu (going by "Joryu" after faking his death) out of the shadows and persuaded the Daidoji to loan him to their service, and they had him infiltrate the Castle by becoming a prize fighter. However, Joryu kept his distance from Nishitani during his time at the Coliseum, and, when Nishitani intended to meet Joryu, Tsuruno explained that Joryu wanted to keep his identity secret. When Nishitani sent guards to retrieve Joryu, Joryu fought his way through them before Nishitani used a motorbike to catch up to him and challenge him to a fight, eager to challenge a stronger man than him. Joryu defeated Nishitani in a fight observed by the Castle's guests, and Nishitani recognized Joryu as the reportedly-dead legend Kiryu. He was then knocked out by Kiryu, who then fled to Osaka, with Nishitani commencing a manhunt for him.
Kiryu made his presence in Dotonbori known by leading Tsuruno's crew in a night of flashy debauchery, and Nishitani decided to attack from the shadows when Joryu was vulnerable. Joryu responded by raiding the Castle and threatening to have its existence made known to the public unless Nishitani came out of hiding. Nishitani ultimately came to the Osaka docks, where Joryu and Shishido raided the Kijin-kai headquarters at a warehouse. Tsuruno set the warehouse on fire to trap Nishitani, who confronted Shishido about why the Watase-gumi would cause an internal conflict as Watase was about to be freed. Joryu proceeded to defeat Nishitani in a fight, and, unwilling to kill a downed opponent, Kiryu insisted that Shishido help carry Nishitani out of the burning building. Shishido instead stabbed Nishitani several times, secretly doing so with a prop knife that spurted blood. He then escaped the building with Joryu as Nishitani awoke and fled. Shishido then reached out to Nishitani about Watase's plan to disband the Omi, recruiting his former tormentor into his plot to seize control of the Omi and prevent its dissolution.
A recovered Nishitani and Shishido attempted to ambush Watase at his meeting with Tsuruno and Kiryu at a construction site on Watase's release, but Daidoji agent Kihei Hanawa rammed Nishitani with a limousine before he could murder Tsuruno. The unconscious Nishitani was then chained to a pole until Daidoji Factio nagents arrived to abduct him and force him to become one of their agents; Shishido soon followed suit after being defeated by Kiryu.
