Holger Meins

Holger Meins (26 October 1941-9 November 1974) was a German cinematography student and Red Army Faction member who is best-known for his fatal hunger strike in 1974 while he was in prison.

Biography[]

Holger Meins was born on 26 October 1941 in Hamburg, Nazi Germany, and he studied cinematography before being drawn into the revolutionary struggle of the Red Army Faction. On 1 June 1972, he was arrested with Andreas Baader and Jan-Carl Raspe in a Frankfurt storage garage where they made bombs, and he decided to launch a hunger strike along with several other RAF prisoners. He died during the hunger strike on 9 November 1974.
