Hojo Tokiyuki (1322-21 June 1353) was the daimyo of the Hojo clan and the son of the last shogunal regent of the Kamakura Shogunate, Hojo Takatoki.
Biography[]
Hojo Tokiyuki was born in 1322, the son of Hojo daimyo Hojo Takatoki. He fought against both the Ashikaga and imperial forces during the beginning years of the Nanboku-cho period in order to keep the Kamakura Shogunate alive, but in 1333 Kamakura fell and his father committed seppuku. Tokiyuki fled to Shinano Province at the home of Suwa Yorishige, and in 1335 he recaptured Kamakura from Ashikaga Tadayoshi before Ashikaga Takauji forced him out of the capital. Emperor Go-Daigo pardoned him and allowed him to enter the service of the Southern Court, and he declared war on the Ashikaga Shogunate in 1351. In 1352, he helped Nitta Yoshioki in the recapture of Kamakura, but after he was defeated, he fled to Sagami Province, where he was captured and beheaded by Ashikaga loyalists.
