John Hogan Gidley (16 September 1976-) was White House Deputy Press Secretary from 14 January 2019 to 1 July 2020, succeeding Raj Shah and preceding Brian R. Morgenstern.
Biography[]
John Hogan Gidley was born in El Dorado, Arkansas in 1976, and he was a member of Young Republicans at the University of Mississippi, where he studied journalism and political science. He served as director of media operations for Governor Mike Huckabee, Executive Director of the South Carolina Republican Party, director of communications for Rick Santorum's 2012 presidential campaign, and Donald Trump's Deputy Press Secretary from 2019 to 2020. He claimed that the Democrats and media had created more chaos in America than the Russian government and also falsely claimed that The Washington Post had not reported on several Trump accomplishments. He resigned as deputy press secretary in June 2020 to serve as national press secretary of Trump's failed re-election campaign.
